Biography
Pablo Sanchez
Pablo Sanchez is an active flutist and a highly experienced educator from Mexico. His accomplishments began in his home country and have spread to the US, Brazil, Ecuador, and Costa Rica.
As a performer, Sanchez began his orchestral career when selected as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Mexico. Since then, he has performed with prestigious ensembles such as the National Opera House Orchestra of Mexico, “Eduardo Mata” Symphony Orchestra, Puebla City Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphonic Band of Costa Rica. He has performed under Alondra de la Parra, Leon Spierer, Sylvain Gasançon, Enrique Batiz, Fernando Lozano, Paul Poppiel, Scott Boerma, and others.
Sanchez has won top prizes in competitions including the Central Ohio Flute Association Young Artist Competition, the ESM Woodwind Competition, and the Mid-South Flute Society Young Artist Competition.
As an educator, Sanchez has held teaching positions at The University of Kansas and Western Michigan University, and has worked as an instructor in several music programs in Mexico and the US.
As an entrepreneur, he is a founder member of the International Chamber Music Festival of Puebla, Mexico, and the “Rock Chalk” Flute Choir, in Lawrence, KS. Sanchez is grateful to his former teachers, who include Daniel Velasco, Martha Councell-Vargas, Jeffery Zook, and Anibal Robles.
